Shirley Williams
Easthampton- Shirley Ann (Schmidt) Williams, age 64, of Pleasant Street and formerly of
Southampton, died on Sunday July 22, 2018 at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton,
surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 15, 1954 to the
late Richard Edward Schmidt Sr and Shirley Ester (Welch) Schmidt. She was raised and educated
in Southampton.
Shirley worked for many years as a book keeper for a former graphic design company in Holyoke.
She loved boating, the out of doors, spending time with family and looked forward every year to
going to the beaches.
She is survived by her daughter; Michelle L. Williams of Springfield, a step son; Robert Baker of
Springfield, a brother; Richard “Dicky” Schmidt Jr and his wife Patricia of Southampton, a grand
daughter; Joelle Williams of Springfield, two nephews; Richard Edward Schmidt III, Stevie Schmidt,
a niece; Chrissy Schmidt and many friends. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert
Louis Williams on February 13, 2010, a cherished grandson, Dylan Anthony Williams on April 19,
2015 and a brother, Steve Schmidt on July 18, 1983.
Calling hours for Shirley will be held on Friday July 27, from 4-7pm at the Graham Funeral Home &
Cremation Services, 18 Adams Street in Easthampton, whom honorably and proudly has been
entrusted with providing for Shirley's care and services. A graveside service will be held on Saturday,
July 28 at 9:45am at Center Cemetery on College Highway in Southampton. Donations are requested
in her memory to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts, 512 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.
