Richard Bond Obituary

Richard Allen Bond was born in June 29, 1949. He passed away on March 12, 2024 after a very sudden decline in his health. His loss was unexpected and his family and many close friend friends are deeply saddened. Richard was 74 years old.

Richard was predeceased by his father Walter J Bond and his mother Elizabeth Anne Bond, both of Easthampton and is survived by his brother Joseph Bond of Newark, Delaware, his sister in law Sandra Bond and his two nephews Andrew and Aaron and many loyal friends in Easthampton, the Western MA area and Saint Albans, Vermont.

Richard graduated from Easthampton High School in 1967. He was an awesome trumpet player and played lead trumpet in the high school band, in several polka bands and participated in a national polka festival in Minnesota.  He earned an associates degree from Springfield Technical Community College.  Richard worked as a carpenter for a local builder and within several years started his own business located in Easthampton.  He made the business a success which lasted for over 45 years.

Richard was a member of the Pascommuck Club. He made many friends and business acquaintances there, became a  member of the golf league and played in their golf league for many years. He really enjoyed the game and played courses outside MA during his extensive travels around the country.

Richard was a member of the Sons of American Legion.  He loved to travel.  His trips included Australia, New Zealand, Alaska and many other US states.  In all his travels within the US he enjoyed stopping by an American Legion Post to meet and share stories with the local members.

Richard was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling in MA, VT and ME. He had a cabin on the bay in Saint Albans, VT, spent much his spare time fishing with his many friends and loved watching the beautiful sunsets over Lake Champlain.

His departure comes as a great shock and it is gravely felt by his family and countless others in his wide-network of community. The family and his close friends deeply appreciate your support during this time and asks that you make contributions to the National Kidney Foundation in his memory and share your memories of him on our memorial website.  A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date.
