Obituary

Marylou (Nolan) Decker, age 87, died on Wednesday June 15, 2022, after a period of declining health at her home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Marylou was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 19, 1935 , one of five children to the late Hubert Lewis Nolan and Sophie Mary (Cygan) Paquette.

She was raised and educated in Rhode Island before moving to New Jersey, there she meet her husband Edward C. Decker. Together, they moved to Hadley in 1967, before settling in Northampton some years later. Marylou worked as a nursing assistant for over twenty two years at the former Northampton State Hospital until its closing and her retirement in 1993.

Marylou will fondly be remembered for her great sense of humor, wittiness, laughter and her one liners. She was never seen without her cup of coffee and cigarettes. She truly loved celebrating the holidays with her family and she was always there for them.

Marylou is survived by her loving family, two daughters; Delores Belmore and her husband Steven of Northampton, Doreen Boyer and partner Allan Dacey of Vermont, one son; Edward R. Decker of Northampton, 4 grandchildren; Kevin Clark, Robert J. Boyer III, Kyle Decker,Amanda Decker, five great grandchildren; Katana Leah, Robert IV, Charles, Cynthia, two dear friends; Mariane and Lil, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Marylou was predeceased by her husband of sixty three years, Edward C. Decker on April 16, 2014, her daughter; Dawn L. Neumann on April 25, 2016 and her grandson; Richard Preston.
