Marian Stella (Zielenski) Wheeler, age 84, died peacefully and comfortably with her beloved family by her bedside on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 after a courageous battle of declining health.
She was born on December 17, 1935 in Easthampton and was the daughter of the late William M. Zielenski and A. Stella (Marchewka) Zielenski. Marian was raised and educated in the Easthampton public schools, graduating from Easthampton High School with the class of 1953.
On October 3, 1953 at the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Marian married the love of her life, Prentice Wheeler and together they welcomed seven children into this world and they also shared sixty five wonderful years of marriage together until Prentice's death on March 28, 2019.
Marian was a devoted and loving mother and homemaker, providing for her children. She was a devoted catholic and practiced her faith on a daily basis and was a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and Our Lady of the Valley Parish. Marian served the church as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, choir and the Holy Rosary Sodality. In her spare time, she loved cooking, sewing, gardening and taking care of her grandchildren.
Marian is survived by her cherished family, three daughters; Corrina M. Hagan and her husband James Cosgrove of Reston, Virginia, Anna M. Blanchard and husband Stephen of Easthampton, Nancy R. Lattinville of Easthampton, with whom she resided. Four sons; Michael P. Wheeler and his wife Tina of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, William J. Wheeler and his wife Joanne of South Hadley, John S. Wheeler and his wife Stana of Sunderland, Robert B. Wheeler of Catlett, Virginia. Thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, four sisters; Helen Fedor of Easthampton, Rose Wojtkielewicz of South Deerfield, Katherine Walaszek of Easthampton, Priscilla Behidj of Ramon, California, one brother; William Zielenski of Easthampton along with many nieces, nephews, cousins. Besides being predeceased by her parents and husband, Marian was also predeceased by her great grandson Noah and sister; Stella Belisle.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Marian will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 11am at the Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 33 Adams Street, Easthampton. Calling Hours will be held in the Church prior to the liturgy from 9:30- 10:50 am. Burial will follow the services at the Saint Stanislaus Cemetery on Mayher Street in Easthampton. People attending the services are reminded to wear face masks and maintain social distancing at all times. In honoring Marian's memory, she requested that Family and Friends wear something colorful to her liturgy celebration.
