John Foley Obituary

WESTHAMPTON, MA - John Clement Foley, 57, passed away at Cooley Dickinson hospital after a very short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family until his death on Thursday, May 13th.

John was born in Northampton, Massachusetts on October 1st, 1963. He grew up in Southampton, MA where he lived with his parents, Dorothy and Clem Foley as well as with his younger sister, Debbie Delaney. John attended Norris Elementary School, then moved onto Hampshire Regional Highschool where he graduated in 1981. John then graduated from the New England Institute of Technology where he studied mechanics. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Florida to begin his career at Motorola. In Florida, he met his wife of 27 years, June. They both worked together and in 1994, they gave birth to their daughter Sarah and in 1996, their son, Sean was born. John had a passion for hot rods, muscle cars, and anything that could go fast. His friend, Rich Pitoniak whom he grew up with on the same street, shared many fun times together. While in Florida, he owned numerous vehicles that he was very proud of. John was a motorhead with every fiber of his being. This passion continued after the family moved to Westhampton, Massachusetts in 2000. John and his son, Sean, were avid dirtbike riders. John taught everything he knew to Sean and they loved riding together on sunny summer days. He also loved shopping for a great deal at flea markets, collecting Hot Wheels, learning about sharks, having bonfires and bbqs, and blasting 80’s rock while singing at the top of his lungs when he thought no one was listening. John spent many nights hanging out in his beloved garage reminiscing about the good old days with his longtime friend, Chris Weaver.

In 2001, he started working at Ebtec Inc in Agawam, MA. John spent 17 years here building and repairing laser machines. He made many good friends and left a lasting impression on those he worked with. In 2018, he went to work for KTI Inc where he took a job as a laser maintenance supervisor. John made even more friends with whom he was very happy to work with.

John is survived by his wife, June (Komen) Foley; daughter, Sarah LaBerge and husband Casey LaBerge of Belchertown; son, Sean Foley and fiancé Brandy Longto of Westhampton; mother, Dorothy Foley and husband Rene Routhier of South Hadley; sister, Deborah Delaney and husband David Delaney of Hadley; nephews, Jared Delaney of Hopkinton, Evan Delaney of Hadley, and Nick Delaney of Hadley; and predeceased by his father, Clem Foley of Southampton.
