Barbara Matteson Obituary
On February 24 at 2 am, Barbara Louise (Lyford) Matteson.90. departed her earthly bonds after her dishes were done and her laundry folded and put away.
Barbara was a graduate of New England Baptist nursing school. She was a lifelong caregiver, having been a registered nurse at the VA and state hospital, finally retiring after many years at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
Barbara was pre-deceased by her husband John Hopkins, her sister Beverly Johnson, brother Wayne Lyford, granddaughter Kerra and grandson Jonathan.
Barbara and John raised seven children. John Hopkins Matteson Jr, Nancy Jean Matteson, Peter Glen Matteson (Karen Safer), David Merle Matteson, Paul Douglas Matteson, Brian James Matteson (Mimi Matteson) and Carol Ann Matteson.
She greatly enjoyed her 15 grandchildren and her 15 great grandchildren.
Barbara and John were raised in Bridgewater Massachusetts and we’re childhood sweethearts.
