Walter “Wally” Louis Marek Jr. age 73 of Easthampton and formerly of Goshen, died peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019 surrounded by his loving and devoted family at the Holyoke Health Care Center. He was born in Northampton on June 4, 1945 and was the son of the late Walter Louis Marek Sr and Victoria (Kumiega) Marek. Walter was educated at the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Parochial School and a 1963 graduate from the Carpentry Division at Smith Vocational & Agricultural High School. There he played baseball and basketball and was a member of the R.O.T.C. Growing up, Walter spent much time with his family working at Mountain Park in Holyoke.

He began his career in the construction industry shortly after graduating from high school working as a carpenter, before starting Marek Builders in 1973. On April 20, 1968 Walter married the love of his life, Catherine T (Rouillard) and together they celebrated nearly fifty one years of marriage. They lived in Goshen from 1968- 2001, there Walter was a member of the Goshen Recreation and was a member of Building Committees for the Goshen Fire Station and the New Hingham Regional Elementary School in Chesterfield. He also served on the Board of Assessors and was a member of Goshen Snowmobile Club and operated Goshen Boat Rental & Sales at the D.A.R. State Forest. He also served on the Board of Trustees at the Florence Savings Bank. He was a communicant of Saint Mary's Parish in Haydenville. Walter and Catherine moved to Easthampton in 2001 and they became communicants at “Our Lady of the Valley Parish”. Wally was a devoted family man and loved NASCAR, traveling, spending time at his home on Cape Cod and lobster fishing.

Walter is survived by his wife; Catherine of Easthampton, two sons; Walter Louis Marek III and his wife Jo-Ellen (Emerson) Marek of Westhampton, Eric William Marek and his wife Tamara Cardona-Marek of Seattle, Washington, two daughters; Catherine “Katie” V. Lenois and her husband Darren of Montague, Anne T.Waller and her husband Adam of Merrimack, New Hampshire, seven grandchildren; Brandon, Kyle, Ryan, Adam, Haley, Delaney, Gillian, his stepmother; Joan Marek of Easthampton, one brother; Michael Marek and his wife Jackie of Palm Coast, Florida, one sister; Kalani Willis and her fiance' Brad Sanderson of Whately, along with many relatives and many good friends. Besides being predeceased by his parents Walter was predeceased by a granddaughter; Brooke Ann Marek.

A Funeral Liturgy for Walter will be held on Saturday February 2, 2019 at 10am at the “Our Lady ofValley Parish” 33 Adams Street, Easthampton, with burial to follow at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at the GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, 18 Adams St. whom honorably and proudly been entrusted with Walter's care and services.
