Verne Edward Towle

March 4, 1938 ~ January 13, 2019 (age 80)

Verne Edward Towle, 80, of Easthampton passed away on Sunday January 13, 2019 at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke after a long period of declining health with his beloved Family by his side. He was born in Greenfield on March 4, 1938 to the late Kenneth and Doris (Calkins) Towle. Verne was raised in Greenfield and was educated there and graduated from Greenfield High School.Verne served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then served in the Army Reserves. He worked at the former Pro Brush in Florence and then worked for thirty five years at the US Bulk Mail Center in Springfield, MA.

In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, dancing, fishing, hunting, camping, playing miniature golf, auto races and attending antique car shows. He was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins fan and enjoyed going to his grandsons ice hockey games. He loved country music and old rock and roll music and went to many concerts. If anyone was in need of help, Verne was always there to lend a hand. His passion was clowning; magic and making balloon creations were his speciality. He made many charitable donations of his time and skills (to name a few...Special Olympics and the American Cancer Society). In recent years he enjoyed participating in the Parkinson's Dopafit classes where boxing was his favorite exercise. But most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Verne is survived by his loving wife of thirty two years, Patricia (Cernak) Towle and his “Best Buddy” his step-son Allyn Root. With his extended family Verne leaves five children and their spouses. Nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

The Family wishes to express their gratitude to all of the Hospice nurses and staff for their tender compassion for Verne and his family. They would like to thank all the DopaFit family for their support and kindness.Contributions may be made to Hospice of Western & Central MA, 1325 Springfield Street, Suite 12, Feeding Hills, MA 01030 or the DopaFit Parkinson's Movement Center, 15 College Highway, Unit C, Southampton, MA 01073 in memory of Verne.
