Richard Roach Obituary

Richard Allen Roach, 72, previously of 719 Montgomery Street in Ogdensburg, NY passed away in the early morning hour of November 17, 2018 at JGS Lifecare nursing home in Massachusetts where he relocated under the care of his family. He fought his Alzheimer's disease until the bitter end and ran his gas tank bone dry!

Rick will forever be known as a loving father, friend, and all around jokester! He was an avid outdoorsman and spent countless hours on the St. Lawrence River and Black Lake. He loved pushing his Ranger boat to full tilt on the water!
He is predeceased by his parents, James (Pope) Allen Roach and Arlene O'Marah Roach. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army First Air Cavalry in C Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry in Vietnam from September 1967 to 1968. Upon his arrival in Vietnam, he participated in many engagements and was of the first companies to relieve the besieged Marines at Khe Sanh. The Air Medal was awarded to him after many combat assaults by helicopter, for meritorious service involving aerial support of ground forces. The Bronze Star Medal was awarded to him for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. He graduated from SUNY Canton '67 and worked at Blevins Bros. car dealership for much of his career.
Per his wishes, there will be no service arrangements. His beloved family and closest friends will remember him with countless stories to tell, loving memories of being outdoors, enjoying the river, and will undoubtedly miss his laugh the most! Tell a joke, drink a beer, and laugh like hell in honor of one hell of a man!
