Nina Colby
Easthampton- Nina (Lowe) Colby, age 76, of Boutin Street, Chicopee and formerly of Pine
and Park Streets in Easthampton died on Sunday November 18, 2018 surrounded by her loving
and devoted family in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital after a period of declining
health. She was born in Northampton on April 24, 1942 and was the daughter of the late
Robert E. Lowe and Alice B.G. (Hall) Lowe. Nina grew up in Southampton and was educated
in the Southampton Elementary Schools and graduated from Easthampton High School.
Nina worked at the former Northampton State Hospital as a Staff Assistant for thirty two
years and at Sunbridge of Holyoke as a Behavior Specialist for eight years, before her
retirement in 2000. She was married on May 3, 1958 to the love of her life, Russell William
Colby and proudly celebrated fifty years of marriage together until Russ's death on December
30, 2008. Nina was a member of the Easthampton Congregational Church and she enjoyed
crocheting, family gatherings and her travels to Cape Cod.
Nina is survived by her loving family, four daughters; Linda Colby & companion, Kevin
Molina of California, Lisa Ann Lee & companion, Troy Dahlquist of Chicopee, Tracy Flores
& her husband, Pofirrio of Hadley, Kim Colby Montone & her husband, Nicholas of Chicopee.
Scott Colby & his wife, Cindy of Holyoke, Brian Colby & his companion, Charlene Pellegrino
of Florence, Kevin Colby & his wife, Joanne of Stafford Springs, CT. Fourteen grandchildren;
Scott, Derek, Ashley, Ebony, Kyle, Keith, Michael, Jeremy, Justin, Sydney, Isaac, Devon,
Bridget, Brandon. Eight great grandchildren; Sofia, Naomi, Ava, Noah, Riley, Hanna, Ryan and
Hailey. A sister; Nan Wilcox of Southampton and several nieces and nephews. Besides being
predeceased by her husband Russ, she was also predeceased by a granddaughter Crystal.
Private services for Nina Colby were held at the Graham Funeral Home on Wednesday,
November 21, 2018 followed by burial at Main Street Cemetery with the Reverend Sherri
Tucker of the Easthampton Congregational Church as celebrant. In Nina's Memory, memorial
